One of the latest entrant in the Epicuria food mall at Nehru place metro station is The Chatter House. Imagine having a beer just after the metro ride (yes, but don’t go back by the Metro being drunk… please).
When you enter The Chatter house, you will feel that you have entered a European street pub. You will find the brick wall concept, dim lighting, and Irish theme with interesting games and instruments at one corner. It is on the lines of the Gastro-Pub concept where good food meets good drinks at fare price. Indeed the menu had some interesting items and not your typical, run of the mill selections.
Honey Abroal, Executive Chef is a young and energetic chef with all ingredients for making your food wonderful. The wood fire oven concept has been introduced at many places in Delhi but with that concept at this place, your capacity to drink will increase (be safe and don’t Drink and Drive… please).
The menu is limited, but they have options that can do wonders with drinks. Several choices come with preferences for adding a drink for additional Rs 49 for a soft drink or Rs 99 for an alcoholic drink. The alcohol menu is a mix of some new cocktails and some regulars. It is a mix of classic cocktails, beers, liquors and several house specials ranging from Bubblegum Martinis to Jello Shots to Indian fusion drinks. The Amrud Chat, the mocktail, a heady mixture of guava juice, tobasco and lemonade.
When it comes to food, the Chatter house veg platter is delicious as it has all the varieties of the best vegetarian starters. I did my round with the vegetarian platter comprising of Baked Jacket potatoes, House made labne with fresh basil and tomatoes, hummus, baba ghanoush and muhammara with garlic brushed soft & toasted pita bread, onion rings and crispy mushrooms & Paneer tikka with mini tandoori rotis. In the quick serve universe, good onion rings and crispy mushrooms are hard to come by but the ones served here were very crispy and could stand alone in taste . The choice in dippers is amazing as well. The hummus was very creamy and the baba ghanoush had the intense smokiness making it very delicious. The muhammara had that sweet tangy taste and were fantastic in freshness. The paneer of Paneer Tikka could be a bit softer in texture else it was well marinated in spices and tasted amazing with the rotis. The jacket potatoes were amazing when were served with garlic, parsley sautéed mushrooms, feta cheese and sour cream. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable.
As mentioned, they have a wood fire oven placed right at the corner of the alfresco dining area so pizza remains the specialties at The Chatter House. Thin crust pizzas are well baked. The base gets ready and is served well to satisfy your increased temptation. The pizza platter option is unique where they serve slices of different varieties of Pizza. Options are available in Veg and Non-Veg with different variations in toppings.
Coming to desert, well I am not a carrot cake fan, let me start off with that but the carrot cake here was hands down the best I ever had. It was freshly baked, was served with a vanilla ice cream and was topped with excellent creamy layer. It was moist, fresh & flavorful and crumbled in my mouth.
The hospitality is great and the staff uniforms are cool and worth noting.
Overall it is an amazing place to hang out with friends in the afternoon or even chilling out for long in the evening. Weekends will surely be a hit at this place. Go grab some great moments here!.
